Last week, we shared some of the exciting new features that Salesforce has packed into it’s Winter release: Salesforce Winter ’12 New Features.
This week we cover some of the new Salesforce Chatter features. Salesforce will be adding quite a few new features to Chatter. Below are some StarrForce’s favorites:
Salesforce Chatter Private Messages
Currently, when you post a message in Salesforce Chatter, all users of the group, following the record, or anyone in the company if you post on a profile, can view the post you sent.
With Salesforce Chatter Private Messages, you can now send private messages to one or more people without bothering the rest of the team.
Customers in Private Salesforce Chatter Groups
This is scheduled to be released shortly after the Winter ’12 release but it looks promising. Once this is released, you will be able to set up private groups for your customers so you can stay connected through Chatter. This will be great for enhancing communications with clients during project work.
Private Chatter Groups will require some administrator setup and has some pretty tight security and functionality settings, along with what customers can and cannot do. For more information, see the Salesforce.com Winter ’12 Release Notes.
YouTube Videos in Salesforce Chatter Feeds
When you share a YouTube URL link in Chatter, a thumbnail and the title of the video displays in the feed. When users click the thumbnail, they can view the video right in Chatter. Or, they can click the title or link to view it in a new browser window. Currently, the Salesforce Chatter video player will only work with YouTube videos, but knowing Salesforce, this will probably be expanded in future releases.
