Salesforce Data Export is now available to all Salesforce users regardless of their edition.
Prior to the recent release of Salesforce Summer ’11 you had to have Salesforce Enterprise Edition (or above) to use the weekly export feature to run a backup of all of your data.
Salesforce Professional editions and below had to run reports and export them manually to have backups of all of their Salesforce data. Or they had to pay an additional fee if they wanted the convenience afforded to users of the more expensive Salesforce editions.
But now, with Salesforce Summer ’11, all editions (except database.com) have the ability to do monthly exports of their data.
To access the Data Export settings go to Setup > Administration Setup > Data Management > Data Export to either export now or set up a schedule.
You can pick all objects or just certain ones to export and when the Salesforce data export is ready, you will receive an email with a link. The link takes you back to the export page where you can download the compressed CSV files.
I am sure many Salesforce Professional and Group system administrators will love this new feature.
Thank you Salesforce!
