Salesforce is a great tool for your company, but sometimes it requires an optimization to keep it in alignment with your business processes. By optimizing Salesforce, you have the potential to uncover unused functionality and increase user adoption.
StarrData has extensive experience working with Salesforce and Salesforce customers, and through our experience, we have developed ways to help Salesforce customers optimize Salesforce to fit their needs. Here are a few easy steps you can take to improve your Salesforce. And you can read more of our optimizing Salesforce tips here.
1. Organize page layouts logically for ease of use
Managing fields are the key to creating effective page layouts. It’s important to place the most used fields at the top of the page to minimize the amount of scrolling users need to do. We also recommend keeping fields in the same area across all objects to make them easier to find, so the “Account Name” should be in the same area on the account, contact, and opportunity objects.
2. Restrict access to create public list views
When there are too many list views can make it hard to find the view you need. To limit the number of list views, instruct your users on how to create their own personal list views, and use the “My” option (My Opportunities, My Cases, etc) instead of public views.
3. Restrict System Administrator access to a few people
If you give too many people administrator access, Salesforce can become difficult to control. We recommend having one key administrator and one backup administrator for every 25-50 users that all changes must pass through. By appointing just a couple of people to be your administrators, they can easily spot and prevent conflicts, for example a change to a validation rule on contacts that may help the sales team but could hurt the support team, before they occur.
