We recently blogged about Apple iCloud causing problems for Salesforce Sync tools. This post resulted in a response from CompanionLink telling us about their product which addresses many of issues we mentioned in the post. We’ve since talked with the folks over at CompanionLink and found them to be great. Here’s a post they offered to write for StarrForce:
CompanionLink’s core business is sync, and we support almost any smartphone or tablet with the most popular small-to-medium business CRM solutions in the market. So when iCloud arrived last year, our ears perked.
One of the first things we noted was how iCloud worked with Microsoft Outlook. With a free iCloud manager tool for PCs, users are able to seamlessly sync their Outlook contacts, calendars, and tasks with their iOS devices. For many, this simple solution is all they need to improve their workflow. Those with advanced CRM sync needs, however, are left wanting more.
Here’s why.
When you set up iCloud, it creates its own unique Outlook folder. It will even move data from your existing Outlook folder to facilitate the sync. Most people don’t even notice this. But those syncing Salesforce CRM with Outlook almost certainly will! This is because most Salesforce CRM to Outlook sync tools will only sync with the default Outlook folder. There’s no option for syncing with the iCloud folder that was created earlier. As you’re well aware, this can lead to problems.
Fortunately, there is a solution. CompanionLink will account for these unexpected bumps. You can choose which Outlook folder (or folders) you want to sync with – including the iCloud folder. After that, getting your data to iCloud is as simple as syncing Salesforce CRM to Outlook via CompanionLink.
