When you log into Salesforce, you most likely land on your Salesforce Homepage. The Salesforce Homepage can be a wealth of information when set up properly.
If your administrator has enabled the Salesforce Dashboard section, you can use the “Customize Page” (highlighted in yellow in the picture below) link to select which dashboard to display. The top row of that dashboard will then display on your home page for easy viewing.
If your administrator has enabled the “Collapsible Sidebar”, you can click on the line dividing the two sections (or press Alt + S) to hide the sidebar. This is helpful for users with limited screen space.
In the Tasks section of your Salesforce Homepage, use the picklist on the upper right to filter your open tasks. I personally prefer “Next 7 Days + Overdue” but if you have many tasks per day, you may want to use the “Today + Overdue” or “Today” views. Either way, this is a handy place to stay on top of your task.
If you would rather see your tasks or events in a list view, then you can use the “List” button (highlighted in the picture below) under your calendar on the home page. This brings you to the Activities List Views page where you can use the standard list views, views your administrator has created for you, and views that you create yourself.
